What is 3D Modeling Competition ?

It is India’s first of its kind 3D Modeling Competition where contestants will go through a creative and physical endurance test to claim the coveted ‘SuperMojo-Modeler’ Title.

This competition will have two separate categories – Professional and Students.

Why you should participate ?

ABAI Fest and Summit 2016 is a great platform to showcase your talent, get noticed and also win exciting prizes. It’s not only about winning, it’s about participating, rubbing shoulders with industry professionals, and showing a strong effort thus taking a meaningful step in the right direction for growth.

How Does It Work, the duration and what is the SuperMojo-Modeler Title ?

Simple. All Contestants will assemble under a common roof on the given day and compete to create the most compelling 3D Model in a controlled setting. The theme will be revealed prior to the start of the competition. Contestant has to provide the final model and 5 render images + 5 wire frame images of the model (front, left, right, back and perspective of the model) for judging.

The Winner takes home exciting prizes and will wear the SuperMojo-Modeler Title till the next year’s competition.

The 3D Modeling Competition start and end time will be updated shortly. It is advised to arrive one and a half hours prior to the start of the competition.

What about hardware and software ?

Contestants will have to bring their laptops pre-loaded with Autodesk Maya software, the version details will be emailed to you. We will provide the license for the software. For those who cannot bring laptops, we will have a limited number of workstations available on a first come first serve basis. Please indicate your need at the time of registering.

JUDGING CRITERIA

  1. A panel of experts from the Industry will judge the competition.
  2. Most important criteria for judging will be the quality, and like ability of the Character. Strong emphasis will be laid on the appeal of the Character.
  3. The decision of the judges is final, based on the criteria set out in the competition, and no negotiation will be entertained over this decision.
  4. The contestant will be purely judged based on the model output. No heed shall be played on the texture or light of the model, but only on the 3D Modeling and appeal values.
  5. Contestant has to provide the final model and 5 render images + 5 wire frame of the model (front, left, right, back and perspective of the model) for judging.
  6. Poly count does not matter.
  7. Contestant will be disqualified if he/she is caught using any existing models.

1. 3D Modeling Competition? Great! I am up for it. How do I participate?

You need to Register for the competition and follow all the relevant guidelines, and important dates mentioned on the site here.

2. Is this competition open for Students / Professionals? What if I am part-time studying and part-time working?

The competition has two separate categories – Students and Professionals. Be sure to select the appropriate category while filling the Registration Form. If you are a part-time student and part-time working professional, you will qualify under the Students Category.

Contestants must share a link to their work in the Registration Form to be selected for the Competition. Only the best of the best will be selected and pitted against each other for the competition.

3. What Software and Hardware do I need to use?

Contestants will have to bring their laptops pre-loaded with Autodesk Maya software, the version details will be emailed to you. We will provide the license for the software. 4. Do I need to ‘light / render’ my final entry?

You will be purely judged based on your model output. Don’t waste your time texturing or lighting your model, the focus will purely be on the Model and appeal values.

5. When will the themes of the competition be announced? Will I be intimated by email about the same?

Theme of the competition and other specific details pertaining to this category will be revealed just before the start of the competition. It is advised to arrive one and a half hours prior to the start of the competition.

6. Apart from the prizes, will the winning entries receive feedback on the submission?

Yes. If you would like the judges or an industry expert can give you a personal feedback, either via a Live Video Call or Recorded Session.

7. What are the timings of the Competition?

8. I submitted my Registration before the deadline. Can I re-submit if I want to?

Yes, you can. Finalists will be shortlisted post the registration deadline on April 6, 2016.
